FELLOWSHIP NEWS:
1. Amish Christmas Dinner
Join us for a feast of Amish food at the Fischer Farm on Saturday, December 2, and rediscover a simpler way of celebrating the season. The sign-up sheet hangs in the Tower Narthex and informational sheets are found atop the radiator.
2. Overnight Trips in 2007
Your input is requested in planing another overnight, multi-day trip for next year. Details about the five options – Asheville, Montreal, West Virginia Trains, Cape May, and Williamsburg – are posted in the Tower Narthex sill. Please fill out the survey form and place it in the box in the sill.
SEMINAR ON NEW “ELW”
Keith and Pastor will attend a seminar at St. Paul’s in Lititz, on Saturday, to learn about “Evangelical Lutheran Worship”, the new Lutheran hymnal. At some time in the not too distant future, we shall have to decide if we want to purchase the new hymnals…at $20 each, or purchase software that downloads and prints the hymnal in our weekly bulletins – or do both or neither. The new resource has more hymns – 700 and more liturgies – 8 than any of its predecessors and it contains both new material and material that we already know from the SBH, LBW, WOV, and W&P hymnals.
KYRA BARNS’ BAPTISM
…will take place at the traditional service next Sunday. Please share in this joyous event!
DAVID HOFFMANN
…becomes an Eagle Scout at a special ceremony in our church, at 2 PM next Sunday. We congratulate David, and his family, on this great achievement. Dave planned and carried out the construction of our new church shed as his Eagle project.
NEW SOUND SYSTEM
After much work, the Task Force that is looking into the improvement of our sound system in the Sanctuary has come up with a plan. The plan calls for new speakers, multiple microphones, a “mixer” to control sound from a panel at the rear of the church, and possible “ear buds”, which are wireless devices which can be used by individual congregants who have severe hearing problems which a general system might not adequately address. The goal of the system is to improve sound quality for ALL services and events at church, and it is meant to enhance pageants, plays, choral offerings, soloists, and all service leaders’ speech.
Council has endorsed the plan and referred the matter to the Finance Committee to come up with a proposal on how it might best be funded. When a plan is finalized, it will be laid before the congregation for approval and support.
If you have questions, please talk to J Shirk, the Chair of the Task Force.
CHIME CHOIR
…on Thursday, November 16th at 7:00 PM, there will be an introduction to ring a chime instrument. Come and try it -–you'’l like it! If you have any questions, please call R Sweitzer 426-3272.
THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE
Be sure and come to the Maytown Reformed Church, on East Elizabeth Street, here in Maytown, on November 22, at 7:00 PM for a fine Thanksgiving Eve service and reception. Rev. Patrick Walker, the Regional Director of CROP, will preach and the other pastors in town will do the Liturgy. Pat Vogel will fill us in on the final results of the CROP Walk and afterwards, there will be food and fellowship time. Let’s all remember to celebrate Thanksgiving by thanking God in church for our many blessings – not just taking time off, or watching football on TV, or eating too much turkey! See you at church!
