THE SYMPATHY OF THE CONGREGATION…

…is extended to the family of Mary Wetzel, who died in Harrisburg last Sunday morning at the age of 90.  She was a life long St. Johner and member of one of our largest and most faithful families, the Engles.  Many will especially remember her sister, Floss, brother-in-law, Barney, brother, Buzz, and sister-in-law, Lillian – all of whom were church pillars.  Mary was a devoted Sunday School teacher, choir member, and the best whistler ever heard at church socials.

Mary will be buried in Union Cemetery on Saturday, November 5, at 3:00 PM – with a reception to follow in our Social Hall.  All are invited to attend the Rite.

CARD SHOWER

Gerry Showalter, a long time member of St. John’s, will celebrate her 90th birthday on November 10th (Luther’s Birthday!).  you are asked to shower her with cards at:

            5 Meadowbrook Lane

            Mifflintown  PA  17059

THE SYMPATHY OF THE CONGREGATION…

…is extended to the Straub Family at the news of the death of Traci’s Father.  May Easter Peace enfold one and all.

ACFLB OUTING!

Last Sunday, Mr. Robert Wentzel, Pastor’s high school history teacher, again visited us for worship and lunch.  This Sunday, why don’t we visit him, up in the autumnal splendor of the valleys north of Harrisburg, and dine at the rustic Carsonville Hotel?  The van leaves at noon, from the elevator lobby.  Join us!

THE SHELTER CARE COMMITTEE…

Meets on Wednesday at 7:00 PM, in the parlor.  Gladys, Vicki, Sonia, Mike, and Vernetta, please take note.

SARAH SNYDER-PATRYLOW’S…

…graveside funeral has been re-scheduled for this Saturday at 10:00 AM, in Union Cemetery.  She was a St. Johner as a small child in the 1920’s and grew up to serve the church as a medical missionary to India.  Her mother was a member of the well-known Klugh Family, and her father, Simon Snyder, was an elder and our church’s treasurer in 1922 and 1923.  (Anna Houseal was baptized on the same day that the Snyders transferred their membership to us!) Join us at the Rite.

FALL GALA FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Join us for another congregational game night, in the social hall, at 6:00 pm, this coming Saturday night.  There will be lots of great food supplied by the Fellowship Committee and a variety of board games and card games to play.  A great, free evening of fun for the whole church family.  Join us!

ALL SAINTS WHITE ROSES – LAST CALL!

So far, 121 roses have been ordered by our members.  It takes 150 to fill out the cross.  If you want to help do the job, please place your order today.  If you need an order form see JoNan. Thank you.

STEWARDS OF ST. JOHN’S!

Those who love our church cannot help but notice the increasing problem of our funding our ministry.  The budget has very little “fat” in it, and next year, the problem will surely get worse.  If you can increase your giving to help us make up the growing deficit, please do so.

Right now, we are $15,089 behind where we should be at this point in the year.  The biggest needs are in the current operating fund ($12,9599 behind) and in the Synodical Benevolence Fund ($1,518).

Let’s keep our promises and fully fund the church’s work.  Thank you!

YOUTH GROUP…

…our next meeting is Sunday, November 5 starting at 4:15. Please attend!

T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS

Just one more week to order your very own ST John's T-shirt. sign up sheets are in your bulletin.  T-shirts cost $15 and sweatshirts cost $20. So hurry up and order one before the deadline.

We are collecting items (gently used clothing, household items, jewelry) for the Rummage sale in April. If you have any questions or need larger items picked-up, -please call Susan or Robert Frank @ 367-3943.
