HARVEST HOME/CROP WALK REPORT
Last Sunday, St. John’s people gave 191 items of food to the Food Bank, and $296 in cash. Later that day, 76 people from 12 congregations, representing 9 denominations, walked on the 20th CROP Walk, hosted by our church. Fifteen of the walkers were St. Johners. The walkers donated 53 more items of food and raised over $8,139 to feed the hungry here and around the world…St. John’s raised roughly $1,948 of the total.
Thanks to all who walked – Pat Vogel, Louise Baker, Chris Harnish, Connie Simmons, JoNan and Kaycee Shirk, Willie and Ann Weller, George McConnell, Sue, Katie and Spencer Frank, Anne and Annie Leonhart, and Pastor – all who sponsored walkers, and all who served as registrars, food table servers and food boxers…Pauline Johns, Wanda Long, Esther Brown, Cliff Hafer, Betty Henny, Anna Houseal and Diane Leonard.
If you are one of the four walkers who has yet to turn in your forms and earnings, please do so as soon as possible, but definitely before November 1st. If you did not walk, but took a form, we need that back. Please see that Pastor gets it – it is control-numbered. Christ’s poor thank you all for your care!

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
October is traditionally the month that the church remembers St. Francis of Assisi, who had a legendary love of “all creatures of our God and King”. Most of us love animals too – and we recognize them as a great gift from God.
In recent years, many churches have had special rites by which they ask to bless their pets. Now, St. John’s is offering that opportunity to you. If you’d like to have your animal family member blessed, bring him or her to the church parking lot today, at 2:00 PM. Make sure that “Spot” is on a leash and “Puff” is in a cage to insure a peaceful time together!
SCHOOL KIT REPORT
…things are not totally clear, but it looks like 29 school kits were given to the Social Ministry-sponsored project. Thanks to our generous committee members and to anyone else who donated to the project. Kits, blankets, and quilts will be taken down to the Lutheran World Relief Warehouse in New Windsor, MD on November 9th.
BIBLE STUDY
…has resumed at Longwood Manor and meets each Wednesday, at 10:00 AM during October and November. Join us! We are studying the Gospel of John. No experience necessary!! Pastor teaches.
