THE FIRST SYG MEETING…

…of the season will occur on Sunday, September 18, at 4:30 pm.  All children in middle school and high school are urged to attend.  We shall gather I the youth room and talk about our plans for the fall and beyond.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!

Pastor found out that the county is giving away hundreds of used computers to non-profit organizations in the county. (The Historical Society got 2.)  He then drove to Lancaster on Friday and picked up 4 for use in our Sunday school.  We thank the tax payers of Lancaster County for their generosity.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL PANELS YET?

If not, check them out after church today of next Sunday.  Sheri and Diane spent lots of hours and talent painting them.  They depict “sacred meals” in the old and new testaments – the them of this year’s Sunday school curriculum.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO REMEMBER:

Sunday School resumes on September 11 at 9:00 am.

Catechetical classes resumes on September 11 at 9:00 am.

The Contemporary Service starts at a new time,  6:00 pm, on September 11, with the Food n’ Fellowship time after the service, for those who care to patronize it.

Bible study resumes on Wednesday, September 14th, at Longwood Manor.  This year we will study the Book of Revelation.  Sessions start at 10:00 am and conclude at 11:30 am.  All are welcome, bring your Bible if you like.

Senior choir rehearsals will begin on Wednesday evening, September 7th, same time (7:30 – 9:00), same place!  Our first anthem will be sung on Sunday, September 11th.  See you there!

Sunday school teachers and helpers will be installed in office at the morning service on September 11th, at 10:30 am.

Sue Frank will be installed as our new SYG Adult Leader on September 18th, at 10:30 am.  (All teens, please be in attendance to show Sue your support.)

The Congregational Council will meet on September 6th, a Tuesday, at 7:00 pm, because of the Labor Day Holiday.

Needed:

Someone to look after the new “Bible Bytes” computer lab, in the Hoffman Kindergarten room.  (Spend about 45 minutes twice a month, every other month or so, helping kids learn Bible stories by using 6 computers and software.)

More shepherds to serve as occasional accompaniers of children to various workshops.  Shepherds help teachers and insure discipline.  This is not an every Sunday job.

About 20 old CD’s to use as decorations in the lab.

Someone to help host the snacks.

Parents and grandparents who motivate their kids to participate in the Sunday School program and who stay for the adult class, themselves!

A NEW SIGN UP SHEET…

…is hanging on the bulletin board for families, friends, singles to furnish our snacks for food and fellowship Sunday evenings.  We need volunteers starting in September.  Please help with this so that we don’t have the same people having to volunteer month after month.  Thank you, questions please see JoNan.

IT IS WITH OUR DEEPEST GRATITUDE…

…that we thank our church family for your support for Don throughout his illness these past months.  Your gifts of flowers, prepared meals, and food items, the cards and visits, the time and effort to server the luncheon, the Memorial gifts and Communing with us at the service, are so appreciated.  Thank you, thank you!  Ruth, Keith, Karl, and Karen Sweitzer and our families.
