NEW FALL SCHEDULE
…the Congregation Council, acting upon the majority recommendation of a special meeting of the Worship and Music and Christian Education committees, has decided upon the following schedule to begin on Sunday, September 10, 2006:
9:00 AM Contemporary Service
10:00 AM Sunday School/Catechetics
11:00 AM Traditional Service
The decision to organize the times of our coming together as Christ’s church was a difficult one, and we pray that the congregation will support it in the spirit of Christ. After a six-month trial, the decision will be reviewed.
ANYONE WILLING TO HELP

FALL ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
…whether you will be attending the 9:00 am contemporary service or the 11:00 am traditional service…or both, we’d like to remind everyone that Adult Sunday School resumes September 10th at its new time - 10:00 am - 10:45 am. Sheri Hafer will be leading the discussion of “Joy: How to Rejoice in Any Situation”, a Fruit of the Spirit Bible study. Following this six week curriculum, Ruth Sweitzer will be presenting “10 Key Events from the Bible”, which will deepen our understanding of our faith. You’re invited to join us every week or just for the sessions you are able to attend. St. Johners and our visitors are always welcome!
BIBLE STUDY???
Pastor has asked the Question: “Do people want the mid-week morning Bible Study at Longwood Manor to continue?” About 8-10 residents of the home have indicated a willingness to attend, but Pastor is reluctant to commit to the ministry if he cannot count on church members to be there too, to help carry the discussion forward. If you will attend the Wednesday study, from 10-11 AM, starting October 4th, please tell Pastor.
Quilting?
In late September or early October, Vernetta Wallander will lead a training session on simple quilting – the kind we do to make blankets for the poor. The quilt tops are sewn by Vernetta…and perhaps others, and then they are fashioned into quilts with tied and knotted yarn. You need not be a seamstress to do the work. Look for a future bulletin announcement or a date for the workshop, and talk to Vernetta if you have a question.
BLANKETS
…and cash to buy blankets, will be collected at both services on September 24th.
THE SYMPATHY OF THE CONGREGATION

NO ONE HAS SIGNED UP
…to serve as a Head Usher in September. Please help us out and sign on the “dotted” line.
SCHOOL KITS
…Social Ministry will be collecting completed school kits for Lutheran World Relief to distribute to children in need of them. A “shopping list” has been inserted for your shopping convenience. It would be best if you purchase all the items and put them in to the canvas bag. The kits will be collected some time toward the end of October. If you have any questions, please talk to either Gladys or Louise. The committee’s first meeting of the season will be Monday, September 18th…place to be announce (for sure an eating establishment)…come join us!!!
