LAST WEEK’S OUTDOOR SERVICE and PICNIC

…was wonderful!!!  Thanks to the 95 who attended and who shared such great food and fellowship.  Thanks also, to Ed Billman and Charlie Johns for the Dunking Tank!!  $122 was given to the Seminarian Support Fund and, when combined with the $129 given by the children during Bible School week, we were able to send $251 to Wartburg Seminary, to aid Amanda in her studies.  A great day!!

WELCOME VISITORS!

We extend a hearty welcome to all of our visitors this morning and invite you to worship with us any time.  Please sign one of the guest books as you enter or leave the service, and we will have a small gift to give you.  The guest books are located in the vestibule and hallway, right outside the Sanctuary.  Ask an usher or any member if you need further directions or any help.  We’re glad you are with us!

HARRIET SMITH

…would very much like visits from St. Johner’s on a regular, weekly basis.  She lives alone and often sees no one for many days.  If you will make this ministry of friendship your own, please talk to Pastor at once.  Thank you.

ALL ST. JOHNER’S WHO ARE LEAVING FOR COLLEGE THIS FALL

…are urged to be present at a special service on Sunday, August 20th, at 9:30 AM.  The service will include a little rite of “God Speed” to send you on your way with our prayers.  Please tell Sheri Hafer or Pat Vogel if  you will come.

PASTOR ON EMERGENCY LEAVE

Pastor Lescallette left for Florida on the 8th where he and his sister will help their dad move from West Palm Beach to Harrisburg.  Mr. Lescallette (Senior) is a recent widower who has several health issues and no support network in the South.

Pastor Bob will stay in Florida until August 18, when settlement is made on his dad’s apartment, then he will drive his dad and his car and belongings north, arriving sometime on the 20th or 21st.  He then must help settle his dad into a new apartment and will likely be back to work, here, on the 23rd.

Distance makes it impossible for him to respond to emergencies here, and Pastor Peirson is also unable to help, due to issues that demand his attention elsewhere.  Therefore, if you need a Pastor, call Diane at 426-3072 and she will notify the Maytown Reformed Minister, Rev. Kay Rader.

For Sundays, we welcome to our pulpit on the 13th, Rev. Augustus Tietbohl, a retired Lutheran pastor from eastern Pennsylvania who now lives at Luther Acres.

On the 20th, Pastor Glenn Rader, former pastor of The Church of The Apostles and the Maytown Reformed Church, will preach at the 9:30 AM service, and the Praise Band will do an all music service at 10:45 AM.

Most previously scheduled meetings and events will continue to be held unless you hear otherwise from our lay leaders.

Please let Diane know if anyone is hospitalized during this time.

NO NEW MEMBER CLASSES

…will be held until August 27th, due to Pastor’s absence.

WOODY’S CRAB FEST – TODAY!

If you signed-up to go to Woody’s for crab, please gather in the elevator lobby at noon and prepare to either board the van or drive your car.  Dick Baker will drive the church van in Pastor’s absence.

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

All Council deacons are reminded of our important single-item agenda on Tuesday, the 15th, at 7:00 PM, in the parlor.  We must have a quorum of at least seven and we must decide the fall worship/education schedule.  Please attend.

A BIG THANK YOU

…to the Hafers, for handling parsonage cat care again!
