WOODY’S CRAB CAKES - TODAY!
So far, 25 of us are signed up to go to Woody’s, in Northeast, MD, after church today, for great crab cakes and twice-stuffed potatoes. If you’d like to join us, there are still four seats left on the van. We go “Dutch” and share in the cost of gas. Expect to be home by 7 pm at the latest.
THANKS
…to Glenn and Jo for their beautiful duet this morning.
TWO FELLOWSHIP TRIPS…await your support
On Saturday, October 13th, there will be a day-long “mystery tour” to several nice sites in the area at a cost of $40.00 per person – depending if we must rent an additional van. The trip includes visits to several sites and supper. Deadline for signing up is September 16th.
On Sunday, December 16th, we shall sponsor a spectacular all-congregation trip to Philadelphia to attend the “Holiday Pops” concert with the orchestra led by Peter Nero. The concert takes place in the amazing new Kimmel Center, which features several theaters inside a huge glass arched roof with great nighttime views of Philly’s skyline. The cost of the ticket is about $59.00 – concert and transportation on a bus. We shall also eat at a restaurant with each diner choosing his or her own meal and paying for it separately. Forty tickets have been reserved and, thus far, 26 have been claimed. Because tickets are selling fast and the church does note want to get “stuck” holding un-used tickets, it is vital that you sign-up by August 19th. Questions may be addressed to Connie Longenecker.
WHITEWATER RAFTERS!
The twelve adventurers who signed up to go on the Leigh River this coming Saturday should be at church by 6:45 am…at the latest! Bring along a set of dry clothes and wear a bathing suit, old sneakers, eyeglass straps, a tee shirt, and, if you like, a sun hat/baseball cap. Also, bring along $15-20 for supper and your share of the gas cost. The five adults should give Pastor a check for $54, made out to St John’s today or on Saturday!
U BEVERLY WENZEL U
On Thursday morning, our sister in Christ, Bev Wenzel, daughter of the late Cecilia Marx and the step-daughter of Leonard Marx, unexpectedly and suddenly died. Bev had long been a resident of Manor Care Home of Lancaster and experienced illness for much of her adult life. We commend her to her Savior’s care and rejoice in her reunion with her beloved mother and others who have gone before. Pastor will conduct an internment ritual at the Hollywood Cemetery in Union, NJ on Wednesday, August 15 about 2:00 PM. Go with God, Bev.

NEWSLETTER CONTRIBUTIONS!
The newsletter covering September and October will be distributed on September 2nd. That means articles must be in Diane’s hands by August 20th. (There is a wire tray with a yellow folder on one of the shelves in the outer office just for placement of those articles...how easy is that!please don’t make me call you J!) Thanks for your cooperation.
SUE FRANK RESIGNS
After two years of service to our church, as Senior Youth Group Director, Sue Frank has resigned. We thank Sue for her ministry among us.
If you, who read these words, are interested in talking to Pastor about being the new SYG leader, please talk to Pastor as soon as possible, so we can plan fall programming. Charlie Johns will help, but we need a woman too – and perhaps even better a couple.
