THE VBS VIDEO PRESENTATION
APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in
God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in
Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the
Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

A WORD TO ANY VBS VISITORS AMONG US
We are delighted that you chose to share in our VBS experience and welcome you to share in our worship, learning, and congregational life at any time. Please note that we worship on every Sunday morning at 10:30 am and use both traditional and contemporary service styles on varying Sundays. Note also, that on Sunday, September 9th at 9:15 am, we will kick off another year of Sunday School with a special inter-generational “Rally Day” featuring a guest magician (who is also a Lutheran pastor) and special food. On September 16th we will resume regular classes at 9:15 am, lasting one hour. Children 3-12 attend a “rotational worship” Sunday School that uses art, drama, cooking, puppetry, games, videos, and a computer lab to tell Bible stories; 7th and 8th graders will prepare for their confirmation by studying the Catechism for a second year; and adults and older youth will hold a traditional class. Please join us and include church as a regular part of your life!

WHITEWATER UP-DATE
Eleven reservations have been made for an August 18th raft trip on the Lehigh River on a “dam release” day. The adventurers are: Pastor, Glenn, Jo, Jamey, Buffy, Kaycee, Tanner, Ryan, Willy, Samuel and Gabrielle. Each adult named should make a check out to “St. John’s Lutheran Church” in the amount of $54.00 and give it to Pastor. The SYG will pay for the six youth. Please remember, however, to bring along $5 or so for supper at a fast food place and about $7 to help pay for gas…this applies to adults and youth, alike. We shall leave aboard the church van at 6:45 am. Wear bathing suits, t-shirts, old sneakers, and a strap for glasses…to keep them from falling in the water during rapid runs or water battles. Also, bring along towels and a change of clothing for the trip home.
NOTE: There is one seat remaining to be claimed so we can FILL two six person rafts. Speak up today if interested. We leave at 6:45 am on the 18th.
TWO FELLOWSHIP TRIPS…await your support
On Saturday, October 13th, there will be a day-long “mystery tour” to several nice sites in the area at a cost of $40.00 per person – depending if we must rent an additional van. The trip includes visits to several sites and supper. Deadline for signing up is September 16th.
On Sunday, December 16th, we shall sponsor a spectacular all-congregation trip to Philadelphia to attend the “Holiday Pops” concert with the orchestra led by Peter Nero. The concert takes place in the amazing new Kimmel Center, which features several theaters inside a huge glass arched roof with great nighttime views of Philly’s skyline. The cost of the ticket is about $59.00 – concert and transportation on a bus. We shall also eat at a restaurant with each diner choosing his or her own meal and paying for it separately. Forty tickets have been reserved and, thus far, 26 have been claimed. Because tickets are selling fast and the church does note want to get “stuck” holding un-used tickets, it is vital that you sign-up by August 19th. Questions may be addressed to Connie Longenecker.
CRABS!
Next Sunday, immediately after the service, the van and several cars will head south to Woody’s, in Northeast, MD, for our annual crab feast and walk around the delightful village of antique and gift shops. If you’d like to go along, sign-up today – and either drive your own car, “hitch a ride” with someone else, or fill one of three unclaimed van seats.
Those riding on the van are:
1. Pastor (driver)
2. Pastor’s dad
3. Anna Houseal
4. Dick Baker
5. Louise Baker
6. Katie Lehman
7. Judith France
8. Cliff Hafer
9. Sheri Hafer
10. Kelsey Hafer

The Johnses (3), Shirks (6) and Mackisons (4) will drive their own vehicles and may have room for others.
