Bring an offering each night to support Amanda McConnell’s dream to become a Lutheran Pastor – and get to wear an engineer’s cap.  Questions?  See Laura Wolfe, Colleen Mackison, or Charlie Johns.

THANKS

…to Sheri Hafer, Charlie Johns and Diane Leonard, for working so hard with Pastor, this past week, to prepare all the decorations for VBS.  As well as JoNan Shirk, Kaycee Shirk, Carol Bachert, and Carol Clark for their help last week in the painting for VBS.

WELCOME VISITORS!

We extend a hearty welcome to all of our visitors this morning and invite you to worship with us any time.  Please sign one of the guest books as you enter or leave the service, and we will have a small gift to give you.  The guest books are located in the vestibule and hallway, right outside the Sanctuary.  Ask an usher or any member if you need further directions or any help.  We’re glad you are with us!

NEXT SUNDAY – OUTDOOR SERVICE AND PICNIC

Next Sunday, we will hold only one Worship Service at 10:30 AM – at the pavilion in nearby Fuhrman Park (behind the Maytown Fire Hall.)  We will sing lots of VBS songs and, hopefully, have a nice turnout of visitors.

Then, at 11:30 AM, we will enjoy a picnic – with drinks and utensils provided by the church.  All member families should bring along a covered dish to share – hot/cold, salad, side dish, entrée, dessert.

Then, there will be games for all ages – including bingo…bring along a prize or two, children’s games, sports, and a dunking stool!

Children who attend will be given train whistles and goodie bags – and they will be eligible to win a small toy train set, provided by Keith.

Let’s have a good turnout!!

TONIGHT IS THE SECOND

…new member class.  We will talk about the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.  Prospective members, present members, and anyone are welcome to join us in the parlor from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.

THANKS TO

…all the friends in the church who sent me sympathy cards last week.  Thanks also to Connie for giving me the altar flowers.  Your kindness was appreciated.                                                                                                                                                  - Pastor

LAST CALL! Vbs DONORS!

…very few donations have been received for this year’s VBS.  Today is the deadline for giving cash, food, or other supplies.  If you will help, please fill the jar in the Narthex – atop the radiator, and/or sign-up to provide something requested on the donor sheet.  Thank you!

WEDDING

Next Saturday will witness the wedding of Suzie Young and Michael Daily.  We pray God’s blessing upon their union at our altar.  The couple lives in Stroudsburg, but are looking for a local residence.  Suzie is Sue Young’s daughter and Sonia Ross’ sister.

Attention Everyone…

The C.I.A. (our younger youth group) will be sponsoring a yard sale at the church on Saturday, September 16th from 9 AM to noon.  We are not soliciting donations of items.  We are however, selling table space at $10.00 per space.  We hope to hold the sale outside in the parking lot, but if the weather does not cooperate, the sale can be held in the Social Hall.  This will be our community service event in that any money made from the sale of table space will go to our local food bank.  Money the youth group makes from the sale of their own items will be sent to the Konde Diocese for the support of the Manow Lutheran Junior Seminary.  Individuals or groups who purchase a space will be responsible for their own set up and removal of all their unsold items.  Those purchasing a table space may sell yard sale/craft items, baked goods, etc.  Please see Vicki McConnell if your are interested.

THANKS

…to Ruth, Karen and Howard for your help with our ushering program in July.                                      - The Vogels

…to the ACFLB for sharing lunch with Mom last Sunday and to all of you for your cards.  She had a great 96th Birthday.            - Pat and Bill Vogel
