VBS 2007

Our Annual Community Bible School starts on Monday night and continues for four more nights.  This year’s theme is “Great Bible Reef” and the children will be treated to Bible stories, crafts, games, snacks, songs, and videos set in a beautifully decorated “underwater world” of the parlor, nursery, and social hall.  Please make sure that your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighbors know that they are welcome, if they are between the ages of 3 and 13.  Registration starts at 6:00 PM on Monday through Wednesday with the program starting at 6:30 PM SHARP.  Each night concludes by 8:40 PM.  Join the fun!!

THANKS

…to Pastor and all that visited, sent cards, flowers and remembered Lillian on her 97th Birthday.  She truly enjoyed seeing you and looking at the beautiful flowers and reading her cards.  You made her day!

THANKS, DICK!

Dick Shelly recently retired from Hamilton Precision Metals, Inc. and, rather than have the usual retirement party, he asked that his company give, what it would have spent on the party to us, his congregation!  We received a check for $1,000 in the mail on the 21st.  Thanks so much for your creative and generous gift to our church, Dick!  Have a Happy Retirement!!

CHURCH PICNIC, NEXT SUNDAY!

Next Sunday we shall meet at the Fuhrman Park pavilion – behind Maytown’s Fire Hall at 10:30 am, for an outdoor service celebrating VBS.  We will display crafts, show a few decorations, and, hopefully, show a video of this year’s school.  After the service of Holy Communion concludes, we shall enjoy a picnic lunch.  Your are asked to bring a covered dish to share and whatever utensils and tableware you like.  Church will provide drinks and ice.  Also, please bring along Bingo prizes suitable for all ages, and whatever games you like.  Let’s try to equal or exceed last year’s excellent turn-out of almost 100!

WOODY’S FOR CRABS AND SHOPPING

Our annual “Pilgrimage” for crab at Woody’s Restaurant in Northeast MD will occur on Sunday, August 12th.  All van seats appear to be taken, but several cars are going down and car pooling is possible – so sign up even if you aren’t able or willing to drive your own car.  We leave after church, around  11:45 AM, dine at about 1:30 PM, walk around Northeast window shopping, antiquing, and ice cream cone licking for an hour or so, and get back home by 6:00 PM or so.  We go “Dutch” and share the cost of gas.

WHITEWATER RAFTING – LAST CALL!

Eleven adults and youth signed up to go whitewater rafting on Saturday, August 18th.  That means there are two empty seats on the van that could be filled.  If you are 8 years old or older, you can fill them. You must however, tell Pastor TODAY.  The cost per adult is $65.00 plus supper at a fast food restaurant and 1/13 of the cost of gas.  The cost per youth is free (plus supper and your share of gas).  The Youth Group will pay for the youth’s participation.  Six people fit in a raft, so even if we only get one more participant, that would be great.  If more than two want to go they may, only someone will have to drive another private vehicle.  Speak up by noon today.  Also, because the cost has increased due to the failure to get the group rate, anyone who signed up and who is now unwilling to pay the price of the trip is free to back out.  We will understand.
