WELCOME VISITORS!

We extend a hearty welcome to all of our visitors this morning and invite you to worship with us any time.  Please sign one of the guest books as you enter or leave the service, and we will have a small gift to give you.  The guest books are located in the vestibule and hallway, right outside the Sanctuary.  Ask an usher or any member if you need further directions or any help.  We’re glad you are with us!

ALL ABOARD THE GOSPEL EXPRESS:

Vacation Bible School is just around the bend.  Please join us on July 31st through August 4th from 6:30 PM until 8:45 PM.  Pick up a registration form by the front door.  All ages from 3 through 6th grade are welcome.  Also, anyone interested in donating cash or snacks, please see the sign up sheets posted on the bulletin board.  Thank you in advance for all your help.  Laura Wolfe and Colleen Mackison.

URGENT APPEAL FOR HELPERS

…for many years, Vernetta Wallander has been sewing quilt tops.  These were then given to people like Leonard Marx to fashion into quits by tying knots with yarn.  Now that Leonard has moved out of the area, we need folks to step up and take his place.  The job is easy, and it can be done while watching TV.  Vernetta will be happy to show you how – she just needs you to volunteer.  It would be sad if we could no longer make quilts to clothe the world’s poor – and it need not be.  Please talk to Vernetta or Pastor today and say you’ll help.  God Bless you for caring.

TONIGHT!!! LAST CHANCE

…to attend the New Member/Inquirer’s Class.  We start off talking about the faith journey of Martin Luther.  If you want to join our congregation (or are even considering it, and want more information before you decide), and don’t come from a Lutheran background, you must attend the five-session course. Even if you were raised Lutheran and can provide a letter of transfer from a sister congregation, it is a very good idea to attend at least the last two sessions, in August, where we discuss the congregation’s history and organization.

It is unlikely that another course will be offered this year, so please act.  If Sunday nights are impossible for you, please speak to the Pastor, and an attempt will be made to find another time for instruction.

The congregation welcomes everyone into our fellowship.  We hope to see you in the church parlor tonight.

Attention Everyone…

The C.I.A. (our younger youth group) will be sponsoring a yard sale at the church on Saturday, September 16th from 9 AM to noon.  We are not soliciting donations of items.  We are however, selling table space at $10.00 per space.  We hope to hold the sale outside in the parking lot, but if the weather does not cooperate, the sale can be held in the Social Hall.  This will be our community service event in that any money made from the sale of table space will go to our local food bank.  Money the youth group makes from the sale of their own items will be sent to the Konde Diocese for the support of the Manow Lutheran Junior Seminary.  Individuals or groups who purchase a space will be responsible for their own set up and removal of all their unsold items.  Those purchasing a table space may sell yard sale/craft items, baked goods, etc.  Please see Vicki McConnell if your are interested.

C.I.A.

Remember to sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board if you plan to attend the Wittle Farm and swimming at Kirchanwald on Tuesday.  Do not forget your permission slips.  The swimming cookout date at Bob and Sue Franks will be on August 19th.       Vicki and Charlie

HOMES OF HOPE SHELTER

The shelter, which was destroyed by fire two days before Christmas, is almost rebuilt.  The committee is looking for help to finish up a few things such as painting.  If you are interested in helping, please see Vicki McConnell (426-2773) or call the coordinator Larry Enders 431-7394.

The roof of our furniture bank on Walnut Street in Mount Joy has been leaking.  Some of our items were not salvageable and will need replaced.  I will have a list in the near future for items to help restock our household goods in the furniture bank.  Anyone having donations please see me.                                         Vicki

THANKS

…to Pastor Peirson for filling our pulpit at last Sunday’s two services.  The congregation and Pastor Lescallette are most grateful for his kindness.

…to Janelle Hollinger and Charlie Johns for joining Pastor in polishing our church’s sacramental silver.
