THE STATS!

One hundred ninety-seven people attended the concert – plus about 15 scouts and re-enactors and 7 band members.  About 110 enjoyed strawberries and ice cream afterwards.  The offering at the concert, minus a few expenses, plus the profit on the food sales, earned $841.39 for the “Operation First Response” troop backpack project.  That money will be combined with receipt slips for material bought by individual congregation members, and Thrivent will match the sum on a $1 for $3 basis.  Once the money is returned to the church, the Social Ministry committee will purchase more material for the backpacks and take the gifts, plus some money for overseas shipping, to Warminster, PA.

THE SYMPATHY OF THE CONGREGATION

…is extended to Alice, Tana, Tony and Rose Leas at the death of our brother, Norm, on Wednesday evening.  Norm, together with his assistant Alice, was the chief cook of the congregation – presiding over many a church supper, across many years; and, as long as health permitted, he made sure the he was present at every church service St John’s offered, in order to worship his God and support his fellow members.  He had a large and generous heart, and we commend him and ourselves to the Christ of the even greater heart.  We will surely miss you, Norm – until Easter dawns for us all!

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

…of the June Congregational Meeting, which is scheduled for Sunday, June 10, 2007, immediately after the morning worship service.  The agenda will include –

1.        The election of five new Deacons

2.       The approval of the Annual Audit

3.        The approval of a series of major property repairs on the church’s belfry, tower, east wall, and annex roof.

Please attend this very important meeting.

SYNOD ASSEMBLY

Pastor, Betty Henny, and Paul Purnell will represent St. John’s at this year’s longer-than-usual Synod assembly at Gettysburg College this week.  The first session begins Thursday night and the last session ends around 4 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday.  The 800 attendees must elect a bishop and several other officers, approve a budget, vote on various resolutions, ordain new minister, participate in worship services, and engage in Bible studies.  If you need pastoral services in an emergency, call Diane at 426-3072, and she will contact Pastor.

SUNDAY SCHOOL ON HIATUS

After nine months of teaching, our faithful Sunday School teachers and staff need a break – and so do their students!  Today is the last Sunday for classes until September 9th, when we shall kick off a new year with an intergenerational Rally Day featuring a guest Pastor and magician.  Thanks to all who led Sunday School this year and to the kids, parents, and adults who supported the school by their attendance!  Don’t forget that we remember the Sabbath day all summer long with worship services!

Dear Pastor Lescallette,

My wife and I attended a magnificent “community coming together” program at your church last night – and what a wonderful experience it was!  You are to be commended for opening your church doors for such a gathering of fellowship as I haven’t seen in many years.

Please offer our thanks to all of the marvelous vocalists and all those who had anything to do with staging the program.

It remains a night to remember!

Sincerely,

Bob Troxell
