…are given to the Glory of God and an early but fond memory of Bill Vogel, and Happy 101st Birthday to “Mom” (Lillian) Johnstin.

Kay Roder

THE BULLETINS…

…are given to the Glory of God and in honor of our daughter Brenda and grandson Jimmy’s birthdays by Frank and Ginny Zimmerman.

SUNBURY LUNCHEON OUTING TODAY!

At noon, our church van will head north along the river to Sunbury for lunch at “Skeeter’s Barbecue Pit Restaurant”.  The main reason we are going ---other than fellowship---is the view from the restaurant---which sits atop a  hill overlooking the Susquehanna River Valley and Sunbury.

(There are outside and inside tables.)   Most of the menu is barbecued--like brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and spare ribs---but if that’s not your “cup of tea”, there are also chicken fingers, salads, and veggie wraps.

So far about 8 or 10 of the 13 seats have been claimed, so check if there’s room for you---or you can always follow the van in your own car. We gather in the elevator lobby after the congregational meeting. Join us!

(We will be home in time for the 7 PM Bible Study that Pastor leads.)

LUTHER ACRES BINGO

Social Ministry types are reminded of our need to meet at the church parking lot at 6 PM tomorrow night (or gather at Gladys Ney’s)--so we can board the van and drive to Lititz for our bingo game at Luther Acres.

See Diane if you have a question. (Bring ice cream money for our snack afterwards!)

JANE SIMMONS’ FUNERAL….

…..will occur in Marietta Cemetery on Friday, July 1, at 11 AM.  Anyone interested in attending from St. John’s is welcome. Jane was a St. Johner for 35 years, and she was a devoted member of our choir and council.  She also was very involved in youth ministry. We thank God for her life among us in the past, and with Him, now, unto eternity.  Her daughter, Connie, a faithful St. Johner also, and three other children---together with several grandchildren, survive her. Our prayers attend them.

VBS URGENT NEEDS!

Work has begun on “Hometown Nazareth”, this year’s exciting VBS, but we still have several big needs that you, our congregation, need to help us with. They are:

1)      Someone to man the carpenter’s shop---and help the kids

make a simple wooden pull toy. (All you need is a hand drill,

       glue, and paint.)

         2)  Someone to be the rock quarryman---and help the kids make a

              simple necklace.

         3)  An olive oil shopkeeper, who makes a mixture of olive oil, salt,

              and herbs.

         4)  Another tribal leader---who takes the kids around from place to

              place.

          5) Brightly colored blankets for the floor and to decorate with.

          6) Reed baskets for decoration.

          7) Back-lighting fixtures to light up our house facades.

          8) Donations of money to buy food and other things. (Put it in a

white envelope with your name written thereon, and give it to

Pastor or place it in the offering plate.)

We can’t do this without your help, and we need it now. Please help. See Charlie Johns or Pastor today.

THANKS…..

….to Jim Leonard, for sharpening knives and providing VBS tools for

Pastor’s use.

….to Diane Leonard, for obtaining paint for the VBS set.

….to Harold Mohr, for delivering three more refrigerator boxes for us, and to Ed Billman, for securing them from Hostetter’s warehouse.

….to JoNan Shirk, for doing this bulletin.

….to Cliff Hafer, for helping with VBS roll-painting of scenery.

….to Rene Plummer, for giving Pastor a lead on acquiring scenery items from St. Paul/Spring Grove’s VBS.

WE ARE STILL SELLING…..

…..food cards for Giant, Weis, and Darrenkamp’s markets, in order to raise money for a new church van.  Stop by the outer desk in the church office before or after today’s service and pick up a card for this week’s groceries or a gift for a friend.  Thank you!

ANNUAL JUNE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING TODAY…

…immediately after the morning worship service. The agenda is limited to two items of business: the election of 4 deacons to the Congregation Council and the approval of the annual audit of the church’s finances. All baptized and confirmed members who have participated in the life of the congregation in 2010 and/or 2011, and who have received Holy Communion and given of themselves to the support of this body are encouraged to attend and permitted to vote.

DEADLINE FOR JULY, AND AUGUST NEWSLETTER….

…will be Thursday, June 30th. Newsletter will come out Sunday, July 3rd owing to the fact that our secretary won’t be back from vacation until late June 25th.
