A SPECIAL GREETING TO OUR WORSHIPPING VETERANS
…on this Memorial Day Sunday. We are honored to welcome members of the local American Legion Post and their families. Thank you for your service to our country now and in the past. God keep you in His care.
THE SYMPATHY OF THE CONGREGATION
...is extended to the family of Norman "Hep" Houseal, and all of his friends among us, at the news of his death at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday morning of this past week. Hep was a well-known and much-loved figure in our community who loved Maytown, his country, his church, his family, and his friends, and who showed it by his many involvements with us all across the 90 full years of his life. We thank God for Hep and commend him, and his family, to our Lord, for the care that only He can provide.
OUR PRAYERS ALSO ATTEND
…Aly Kohler, a best friend of Katie Frank, and a member of our SYG (who was one of the speakers at our Mother's Day Youth Service this year), was involved in an automobile accident on Wednesday. Aly was held overnight at Hershey Med Center for observation, following a concussion, but appears to be on the mend, for which we thank God.
RUMMAGE SALE
…once again the SYG will be having a rummage sale in July. We have begun collecting gently used clothing, household items, and jewelry. Donations can be dropped off in the youth room. If you have any questions please see Susan Frank or Charlie Johns.
thanks!! Susan

ATTN: YOUTH, PARENTS, MEMBERS, ALL ARE NEEDED
We will assemble parade float today, Sunday, at 4:30 PM. here at the church. We can use your help and your ideas to put the final touch on it. Bring your staple gun if you have one. Duck tape will work. Also we need a tow vehicle. If you would lend or drive this vehicle let Charlie know. All youth that want to ride the float should be at the Legion Park no later then 4:30 PM. on Monday.
NEXT SUNDAY IS THE DEADLINE
…for donating cash or material to our “Operation First Response” appeal to care for our wounded troops. See your most recent newsletter for a list of items to be donated, and place them – and your receipts – in the receptacles found in the tower window. Or, if you give cash, place it in an envelope marked “Troop Care” and place it in the offering – or give it to Gladys Ney or Louise Baker. Thrivent will provide matching type gifts for all receipts submitted, so you wind up giving twice to this worthy cause. Thanks for caring.
WE WELCOME INTO OUR FAMILY-IN-CHRIST
…this day, Scott Mackison and Janet and Angelica Mohr. Scott lives with his wife, Colleen, their children Morgan and Jered and his mother-in-law, Rose Barr, in their West Elizabeth Street home, here in Maytown. Janet and Angelica Mohr live in the Post Office apartment building on Maytown Square. All three come to us from Roman Catholic Christian backgrounds. Janet grew up in the New York City area and Scott, in Columbia, PA. Janet attends the weekly Bible Study group, operated the overhead projector at our contemporary services, is a regular with the ACFLB, and sings with the Musicale ensemble; Angelica is in our Catechetical class and SYG; Scott is the newest member of the Property Committee…and we hope will join the choir! We thank God for these three people, and pray that they will find a blessed home among us.
Please stay after today’s service for light refreshments in the parlor, by our WELCA ladies, and meet our newest members.
IF YOU’D LIKE…
To help prepare strawberries…for Monday’s Musicale, show up at the church kitchen at 10:00 am tomorrow. There are 30 quarts to prepare and, thus far, only four helpers.
To help serve the strawberries and ice cream…tell Pastor today and show up in the kitchen as the concert closes.
To ride our church’s float…in tomorrow’s parade, wear red, white, and blue – or your military uniform – and come to the Legion grounds before 4:30 pm. We may be short of kids this year, so adults are welcome.
COME TO THE MUSICALE!!
Boy, have we got a great way for you and yours to spend Memorial Day! Come to church at 7:30 pm and hear 15 of our greatest singers sing solos, duets, ensemble pieces, and sing-a-longs of familiar tunes from 18 Broadway musicals.
Then, enjoy a patriotic songfest with an appearance by the Bainbridge Band Ensemble and a guest performer, and experience the ever-moving “Salute to the Services” and singing of “God Bless America”.
The offering benefits the “Operation First Response” program for wounded troops and this year’s concert honors Keith’s late father, Irvin, who was a well known veteran, patriot, musician, and churchman.
Bring your friends and let’s have our usual over flow crowd!
BIBLE STUDY
…for this term, ends with the class at 10:00 am this Wednesday – it will resume in September. Those wishing to share in a post-class luncheon at a local bistro may ride on the church van, if you like, if there is room. We will go to the Country Table Restaurant.
NURSERY COVERAGE
We thank Judy Purnell and Betty Henny for volunteering to cover our nursery during services from now on. In this way, it is hoped that young families with young children will share in our congregational life more readily - knowing that, if the little ones get “antsy”, there is always a refuge place to take them for the hour.
IF YOU PURCHASED ONE OR MORE OF THE GERANIUMS
…that decorate our church today, we would appreciate your leaving them in place so they can do “double duty” at the Musicale. They can then be taken home on Monday evening. Thanks!
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
…of the June Congregational Meeting, which is scheduled for Sunday, June 10, 2007, immediately after the morning worship service. The agenda will include –
1. The election of five new Deacons
2. The approval of the Annual Audit
3. The approval of a series of major property repairs on the church’s belfry, tower, east wall, and annex roof.
Please attend this very important meeting.
THANKS
…to Bob Long, for trimming the bushes around the church.
…to Gordy Nell, for painting the parsonage front porch’s steps and trellis.
…to Chris Harnish, for donating and installing a shelf pole in the parsonage bathroom.
…Jeff Baker for repairing the emergency light.
…to Chris Harnish, Sue Young, Richard Baker, Charlie Johns, Jim Leonard, Bob Long, and Paul Purnell, for weeding, trimming, and mulching around the church.
QUILT DELIVERY/MAGGIE’S PILGRAMAGE
…there are a few unclaimed seats left in the church van for our Wednesday, June 6th trip to Maryland to deliver quilts at the Lutheran World Relief warehouse in New Windsor and dine, at Pastor’s favorite hang-out - Maggie’s, in Westminster! The cream of crab soup is to die for!...or is it, ”from”? Tell Pastor if you want to join him and Anna, Esther, Ginny, and Chris. We leave at 10 am.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ENDS NEXT SUNDAY
…it will resume on the second Sunday of September, when we will offer an intergenerational “Rally Day” with a special music show hosted by one of Pastor Lescallette’s Seminary classmates, The Rev. Craig Lantz.
