SEMINARIAN SUPPORT

Last Sunday, we received a special offering to support Amanda McConnell as she enters Wartburg Seminary to begin her preparation as a Lutheran Pastor.  Several people asked if they could give a gift this Sunday.  You may.  Simple use a special offering envelope that is marked “Seminarian Support Fund” and put it in the offering plate.  See an usher if you need an envelope.  The total amount given will be reported in next week’s bulletin.

ON MONDAY…

…9 of us drove to New Windsor and delivered 522 lbs. of gifts to the LWR Warehouse.  854 bars of soap, 16 quilts, and 15 boxes of used clothing were given.

RED GERANIUMS FOR PENTECOST

CHICKEN CORN SOUP/SANDWICH SALE

The Social Ministry Committee will sell delicious chicken corn soup and ham & cheese sandwiches, on a take-out basis, on Memorial Day.  You must pre-order and sign-up sheets are in the narthex.  Soup costs $3.50 a quart; sandwiches are $2.00 each.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PASTOR P!

We wish a happy 70th birthday to our friend and former Pastor, Ron Peirson.  Born in the year of the flood (not the Noah flood, the ’36 one!), he served as our Pastor from 1962 to 1973.  We wish him a wonderful day.

ALL SECRET PALS…

…are reminded of the need to correspond with your children during the next two weeks.  You are also reminded of the June 4th, at 9:00 am, in the Social Hall, breakfast party.  There, you will “un-mask” and enjoy a snack, conversation, and craft with your secret pal.  (Most pals also bring small gifts to share with their friend.)  Questions?  See Missy Chapman.

DEAR ST. JOHN’S

Many thanks for the prayers, and cards of encouragement that the church family at St. John’s provided for us during the lengthy illness of Cindy’s mother.  Also, thank you for the beautiful potted mums that you gave us.  All of these extensions of love helped us through a very difficult time.  With sincere appreciation! The Brinser Family.

GLASSES FOUND

A pair of glasses was found lying in a windowsill in the sanctuary last week.  If they are yours please claim them.  See Pastor.

JANE CRIDER…

…a former member of St. John’s, and the mother of Becky Thomas, and grandmother of Samuel and Gabrielle, was hospitalized for surgery on Tuesday.  She will likely be discharged when you read these words.  If you’d like to drop her a card, her address is:  Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA  17606.

ATTENTION ALL CATECHUMENS

Don’t forget to pick up your confirmation robe next Sunday at church.  It will need to be pressed.  Also, remember to come to rehearsal on Saturday, June 3, at 10 Am.  We shall go out to Pizza Hut for lunch afterwards (Pastor’s treat).

ALL PRAISE BAND MEMBERS…

…are asked to do 2 things:

1.      See Pastor and pick a shirt style and size to be worn this summer.

2.      Come to tonight’s service prepared to have a group photo taken so we can publicize our Sunday morning service with an ad in the paper.  (Support staff like Laura, Charlie, and Paul will be photographed also.)
