Easter 6                                                                                May 29, 2011

Memorial Day Weekend                                                           10:30 AM

Today, St. John’s gathers to worship in what some have termed a “contemporary” style.  While the structure of the service is fairly traditional, albeit simpler, the music is largely from the modern era, and we are led by a “praise band” consisting of a pianist, flutist, another keyboard player, and lead singers, rather than an organist and choir (as happens on other Sundays here).

All you need to do to become involved in the service is to listen and to respond, watching for instructions and words which will be projected on to the front wall of the sanctuary.  You need not use a hymnal, and this bulletin does not contain service information. It only provides announcements concerning our life together outside of worship.

Thanks for joining us today, to praise our Lord!

Dear St. Johners,

Your kindness and concern you showed to Joyce and I during my illness was greatly appreciated by both of us. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue on this journey. Thank you for all your prayers, thoughts, cards and words of encouragement. May God Bless you all!                                                                    Butch Boyer

AN INVITATION FROM THE MOSS FAMILY…..

We would like to extend an invitation to our family at St. John’s to join us next Sunday, June 5th for a picnic from approximately 1 PM to 5 PM at our home (222 Fallowfield Drive in Leola) to celebrate Kelly’s baptism. If you are able to attend, please let us know by Friday, June 3rd so that we can make sure we have enough food and beverages. Our contact info is as follows: home 717-656-6455, Andy’s cell 717-201-3272, Lisa’s cell 717-201-0437, or you can email me at lmoss218@gmail.com or Andy at amoss@psualum.com. We hope you can join us!                     Andy, Lisa, Sarah, and Kelly

INCLUDED IN TODAY'S BULLETIN…

...is an order form for ordering red geraniums for decorating our altar area at Pentecost this year, June 12th.  YOU HAVE ONLY TODAY AND NEXT SUNDAY, JUNE 5TH TO PLACE AN ORDER, SO PLEASE DO NOT DELAY.  SEE LISA MOSS BEFORE OR AFTER CHURCH TO GIVE HER YOUR ORDER OR PLACE YOUR ORDER FORM AND MONEY IN HER BOX IN THE OUTER OFFICE. The flowers are lovely, inexpensive, and they can do "double duty", once planted in your yard, to beautify not only the day of Pentecost, but also the whole season!  Thank you!

ANNUAL JUNE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING…

…Official notice is hereby given, of the next annual congregational meeting, which will take place on Sunday, June 26th, 2011, immediately after the morning worship service. The agenda is limited to two items of business: the election of 4 deacons to the Congregation Council and the approval of the annual audit of the church’s finances. All baptized and confirmed members who have participated in the life of the congregation in 2010 and/or 2011, and who have received Holy Communion and given of themselves to the support of this body are encouraged to attend and permitted to vote.

So far council has not been able to find anyone willing to serve at this time. Leaving council are: Andy Moss, Bob Long, Chris Harnish, and Jim Leonard.

Additional nominations can be made from the floor, by the congregation, but such nominees must be “voting” members, they cannot have served on council for at least the previous year, and they must have given their assent to serve if elected.
