   “See the Conqueror Mounts in Triumph”

                           by Christopher Wordworth

                                        1807-1885

pastor: See, the conqueror mounts in triumph,

         See him come in royal state

MEN:   like a laurelled king returning

         to his joyful palace gate;

women: hark! the choirs of angel voices

         joyful alleluyas sing,

all:   and the portals wide are opened

         to receive their heavenly king!

pastor: Who is this that comes in glory,

         with the trump of Jubilee?

men:   over battles, over armies,

         he has gained the victory;

women: he who on the cross did suffer,

         he who frm the grace arose,

all:   he has vanquished sin and satan,

         he by death has spoiled his foes.

pastor: Thou hast raised our human nature,

         to the height on God’s right hand;

men:   there we sit in heavenly places,

         there with thee in glory stand;

women: jesus reigns, adored by angels;

         man with god is on the throne;

all:   mighty lord, in thine arising

         we by faith behold our own!

THANK YOU

…to all the volunteers involved in the 2007 Easter Egg Candy Project for the Women of the ELCA.  Thanks to the 15 volunteers who gave of their time on Mondays and Fridays and to our super sales people.  To Esther Brown, Sue and Gordy Nell, Barb Heinaman, Vicki McConnell, Janet Mohr, Gladys Ney, Anna Walter, Chris Harnish, Kellye Sweitzer, Norm and Alice Leas, Tana Yung, and Gail Barclay – we say a special thank you.  You spent over 150 hours to make about 320 dozen eggs.  We are applying to Thrivent for a grant to the congregation for this project.     Ginny and Ruth

P.S.  There might be a few dozen eggs in the kitchen refrigerator if you did not order enough for all the bunnies in the house!

TO ALL MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF ST. JOHN’S

As reported in last week’s bulletin, our church is facing a large, and growing deficit in giving.  Support of the World Hunger appeal is the only fund that is at or beyond its year-to-date target.  As of March 31, Current was $7,614 behind the year-to-date budget goal and almost $4,000 behind what we gave in 2006 at this time.

To be in such a deep “hole” with three quarters of the year yet to go, is quite troubling and it cannot continue without some major cut-backs in spending that will be difficult if not impossible.  We do not have a lot of “fat” in the budget.

You can help your church by being in a pew every Sunday and giving more of your time, talent, and material blessings as offerings to God’s work among us.  Will You?  Thank you.
