A class on Lutheran Christianity, which is a requirement for those who do not come from Lutheran backgrounds, will be offered in April and May, if the need exists. Persons transferring to St. John’s from other Lutheran congregations and those confirmed and raised in such churches need not attend the class, but are welcome to do so.

ANYONE INTERESTED
…in helping Maytown celebrate our 250th Birthday in 2010 is urged to speak with Pastor as soon as possible. There is a special need for people to join a finance/development committee so that the event can be funded, but other committees needing staff are program, historical, decorations, souvenirs, arrangements, hospitality/invitations, food, and publicity. On May 1st, a decision will be made to go ahead with the celebration or not, based upon volunteer support. Fifty people have signed up so far, but only five have agreed to serve on the finance committee, and that must increase if we are to have the event.
KNITTING
AND CROCHETING
…we will be meeting this Friday, in the parlor at 7:00 pm. Please join us, we knit, crochet, talk and talk some more and enjoy each other’s company and of course make all sorts of items for good causes. These are projects you can work on while watching TV or riding in the car or waiting for an appointment. If you’re new to knitting or crocheting or a little rusty…we’ll help you get started…see ya Friday!!

A NICE WAY OF HELPING OUR CHURCH
…face the cost of repairing our historic belfry came from a lay member of St. John’s. They suggested that everyone who will receive a payment from the Government to “jump start” the economy be encouraged to give a portion of those un-planned-for-funds to the church’s Building Fund. Think about it, please.
