This Service Employs the GREEN Hymnal.
“Awake, My Heart With Gladness” by Rev. Paul Gerhardt
1607-1676
PASTOR: Awake, my heart with gladness,
See what today is done!
PEOPLE: Now, after gloom and sadness,
Comes forth the glorious sun!
PASTOR: Now hell, its prince, the devil,
Of all their powers are shorn;
PEOPLE: Now I am safe from evil,
And sin I laugh to scorn.
PASTOR: For Christ again is free;
In glorious victory.
PEOPLE: He who is strong to save
Has triumphed o’er the grave.
PASTOR: This is a sight that gladdens -
What peace it does impart!
PEOPLE: Now nothing ever saddens
The joy within my heart.
PASTOR: No gloom shall ever shake,
No foe shall ever take,
PEOPLE: The hope which God’s own son
In love for me has won.
At the conclusion of the poem, the chimes are heard,
the congregation will please rise.
The Deacon will say: “christ is risen!” and the congregation

YOUTH GROUP RUMMAGE SALE:
WE NEED YOUR HELP
Please
mark your calendars…
The annual youth group rummage sale has been scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend. We will be open for business in our social hall on Saturday, May 24th from 8am to 1pm and Monday, May 26th from 8am-12noon.
The rummage sale has been a major fund raiser for our youth program for years. Now more than ever, a successful rummage sale depends upon the participation of our congregation. If you are available, we could use your help in setting up, selling, and/or packing up the weekend of the sale. We need your new, gently used or collectible items as merchandise (we will pick up and store items beginning now). And of course, we need you as customers. Please contact Vicki or Sheri for further information or item pick-up. Thank you.

ANYONE INTERESTED
…in helping Maytown celebrate our 250th Birthday in 2010 is urged to speak with Pastor as soon as possible. There is a special need for people to join a finance/development committee so that the event can be funded, but other committees needing staff are program, historical, decorations, souvenirs, arrangements, hospitality/invitations, food, and publicity. On May 1st, a decision will be made to go ahead with the celebration or not, based upon volunteer support. Fifty people have signed up so far, but only five have agreed to serve on the finance committee, and that must increase if we are to have the event.

A NICE WAY OF HELPING OUR CHURCH
…face the cost of repairing our historic belfry came from a lay member of St. John’s. They suggested that everyone who will receive a payment from the Government to “jump start” the economy be encouraged to give a portion of those un-planned-for-funds to the church’s Building Fund. Think about it, please.
