WE WELCOME TO OUR PULPIT…

…this morning and evening, Pastor Peirson, our former Pastor from 1962 to 1973, and an associate member of this congregation today.  Ron will fill in for Pastor Lescallette, who is on retreat with the 6 catechetical students, their mentors, and catechist Glenn Bachert in Lebanon County this weekend.  The van will return sometime in the early afternoon.  (Pastor will deliver all youth to their homes.)

SOCIAL MINISTRY SOAP COLLECTION

St. John’s will again collect bath-size bars of soap during Lent as a project to help the world’s poor live healthier lives.  Every time you go to the grocery store, please buy some extra bars of soap (any brand) and bring them to church with you on the following Sunday.  Place them in the tub in the tower window well, decorated by Diane Leonard.  Our goal this year is 600 bars.  Thanks for helping!

EASTER FLOWERS – IMPORTANT!

Due to florist deadlines, you have only 3 weeks to place your order for flowers to decorate our church at Easter.  Orders and money must be given to Pastor or Jo on March 5, 12, or 19.  Please note that some changes were made this year, also, with regard to choices.  You can still buy lilies and tulips, but hyacinths have been replaced by mums as a lower cost alternative so as to spare allergy sufferers.  Large daffodils are not available, so we offer miniatures.  Please use the order form enclosed in this bulletin.

KNOW ANYONE WHO WOULD…

…like a wonderful pet, an addition to the family?  There are lovable puppies (1/2 lab) at Becky’s Farm.  If you would like to see them call

664-4948.

BIBLE STUDY

We will not hold Bible Study at Longwood Manor this week, due to a conflict with the Home’s schedule.  On the 22nd we will begin a new study of the Gospel of John.  Please join us!  We meet each Wednesday until June from 10:00 am til 11:00 am at the Longwood Manor private dining room.

LENTEN SUPPERS

This week’s supper will be hosted by the Social Ministry ladies and it will feature home-made potato soup and hot ham and cheese sandwiches – plus a myriad of scrumptious desserts.  Join us at 6 in the social hall – and bring a friend!

ALL SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS AND HELPERS…

…are reminded of our meeting on Thursday at 7 pm.  We need to prepare for Easter’s egg hunt and the Secret Pal Program, as well as talk about VBS and other things.  Everyone please come!  We need all our staff.

GOOD FRIDAY PRAYER VIGIL

In an effort to promote prayer in our church, the council has endorsed a plan to have an organized prayer time at St. John’s on Good Friday, April 14, from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Council deacons and all members of the church are asked to sign-up on the narthex sheet and commit to coming to the sanctuary to pray for the church and the world for a 15 minute time slot.

You will be by yourself, with God, and you may either sit in a pew, kneel at the communion rail, or the special kneeler, or do whatever you like – but come and pray.  A paper with ideas for prayer will be available, but feel free to go to God with whatever is in your heart and mind.  Pray for yourself, but chiefly we ask that you pray for others.  Thanks for your participation!

FOOD DONATION

Our local Food Bank is in need of canned or plastic bottles of fruit juice, ie – apple, pineapple, grape, etc..  Please bring to church on Sunday March 26th for collection.  Thank you – Pat Vogel
