THE DISTRIBUTION
(In Lent, we use a kneeling communion so as to give communicants more time to meditate. Come forward as directed by an usher. The choir communes first. The Luther side of the nave comes forward via the side aisle, gets a glass from the acolyte, kneels along their half of the rail, and returns via the center aisle. The Christ window side comes forward via the center aisle and returns via their side aisle. The balcony approaches via the center aisle, divides using the entire railing, and returns via both side aisles. Altar services commune last. (If any wish to commune in their pews, please inform an usher, and he will tell the Pastor.)
(All who are baptized and receive communion in their home church are welcome to share in the Lord’s Supper. The un-baptized, very young children, and those who do not wish to commune may come forward for a blessing or stay seated.)

DID YOU PICK-UP YOUR NEWSLETTER YET?
…if you didn’t, please do so after church today. The church will have to pay a needless postage expense if the newsletters are left in the box. (How about delivering an absent friend’s? It will give you a good “excuse” to visit.)
LENTEN SUPPERS START THIS WEDNESDAY AT 6:00 PM!
Enjoy beef noodle soup and egg and olive or egg sandwiches, prepared by our WELCA ladies. Then view an interesting video about how 3 small rural/small town Lutheran Congregations grew out of hopelessness about their future. We shall conclude with devotions by 7:30 pm. All choir members, all members in general, and visitors are always welcome to attend. The meal is free, but there is a donation basket available, for those who wish to contribute. See you on every Wednesday in Lent!
BIBLE STUDY
The study of the Book of Revelation concludes on Wednesday (the 8th). We shall then skip the meeting date on the 15th (due to a conflict with Longwood Manor’s programming) and reassemble on the 22nd for a new study – The Gospel of John. All members are encouraged to include Bible Study in their lives and join the group. We meet from 10:00 am, until 11:00 am, most Wednesdays, at Longwood Manor’s small dining room. Join Pastor, three or four of the home’s residents, and Esther, Ruth, Sheri, Frank, and Ginny for a fine hour.
THE CATECHETICAL CLASS…
…Pastor, Glenn, and several mentors will be on retreat this weekend at Camp Kirchenwald near Mt. Gretna. They will leave on the van, from Maytown, at 6:30 pm on Friday and return sometime on Sunday afternoon. During the retreat, they will study St. John’s Congregational History and how the congregation is organized and does its ministry. Visits will be made to Bindnagle’s Church in Palmyra – a church that still looks like our church did in 1804 – and Salem Church, in Lebanon – where Pastor Lescallette was ordained. Members of the congregation are more than welcome to join us for a trip or session, but you will need to provide your own transportation.
All catechumens are reminded of the necessity of giving Pastor your signed parental permission slips as soon as possible but definitely before you get on the van. Also – pack light!
NEXT SUNDAY…
…our Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Ron Peirson, will preach at both services. He will also lead the Liturgy in the morning, but will be assisted by pastor Lescallette at the Praise Band Service.
SOCIAL MINISTRY SOAP COLLECTION
St. John’s will again collect bath-size bars of soap during Lent as a project to help the world’s poor live healthier lives. Every time you go to the grocery store, please buy some extra bars of soap (any brand) and bring them to church with you on the following Sunday. Place them in the tub in the tower window well, decorated by Diane Leonard. Our goal this year is 600 bars. Thanks for helping!
EASTER FLOWERS – IMPORTANT!
Due to florist deadlines, you have only 3 weeks to place your order for flowers to decorate our church at Easter. Orders and money must be given to Pastor or Jo on March 5, 12, or 19. Please note that some changes were made this year, also, with regard to choices. You can still buy lilies and tulips, but hyacinths have been replaced by mums as a lower cost alternative so as to spare allergy sufferers. Large daffodils are not available, so we offer miniatures. Please use the order form enclosed in this bulletin.
SYG MEETING – TODAY!!!
The senior youth group will meet at church this afternoon at 4:30 pm. There is lots to discuss. Such as the following:
Lutheran Youth day at Susquehanna University will be on April 8. Any 6th through12th grader that wants to go must sign up by March 28: sign up sheet is on the elevator bulletin board . Cost will be approximately $10.
Creation 06 many of the youth expressed an interest in going to this event from June 28 to July 1 of which I have agreed to go. I have a sign up sheet for any youth that want to go( April 1 is the deadline) ; sign up sheet is on the elevator bulletin board the cost will be around $85. I will need adult chaperones to help; preferably someone who is experienced in camping-tenting! If anyone is interested in helping, please see Susan Frank ASAP. THANKS! Rummage Sale- we are still collecting! Unfortunately, the date will have to be changed due to renovations. As the time draws near, the SYG is looking for any volunteers to help with pricing all of the items. Please see Susan Frank if you are willing to donate your time!
