Knitting…or
Crocheting at St.
John’s
The Social Ministry Committee will be hosting a program to all St. John’s members and friends. Our mission is to come together to knit or crochet newborn and premature baby caps, mittens, blankets (for Lancaster General Women and Babies Hospital) – lap robes for oncology patients, and Prayer Shawls for anyone in need. Our first goal is to teach anyone willing to participate how to knit or crochet. This will take place on, Friday, February 8th, at 7:00 pm in the parlor. Diane, and hopefully others, will teach the basics of beginning knitting...and we will probably need more than one or two times to come together for this. Other experienced knitters may begin any of the project patterns we have. We need to decide on an appropriate day and time for us to get together on a regular basis, whether it is weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and morning, afternoon or evening. This is a great opportunity for getting together while doing something worthwhile…and getting to know each other better.
For a beginning knitter, you will need to bring a pair of knitting needles – anywhere between size #6 to #10; I have yarn to practice on.
For anyone ready to knit…patterns are available for you to get started. Please talk to Diane or call her at home at 426-3072.

SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY
The youth of Saint John’s are asking that the congregation support Souper Bowl Sunday - TODAY. What they are asking is for one or more items of non perishable food to be donated to our local food bank. The food bank is requesting jelly, but will accept what ever you bring. Souper Bowl Sunday is usually held the same day as the Super Bowl, but this would conflict with the World Hunger offering. Our goal is to collect 100 items by the first weekend in February with the majority of the items collected today. Simply put the items in the grocery cart inside the front door or in the box under the mailboxes at the elevator. Feel free to support the food bank year round by placing an item or two in the cart every month if you can.
The
food BANK is also in need of
empty
egg cartons…just place them in the grocery cart, any time you think of it.
Thanks

Motivational speakers and musical bands from all over the world talk about vital and relevant issues in today's youth culture and how to handle the issues from a biblical perspective.
Families, friends, groups, and couples go camping for a week in the mountains of
