CHRISTMAS CARD COLLECTION
Phyllis Hossler is collecting used Christmas cards. The cards will be sent to St. Jude’s Ranch so that children who have cancer, and who are patients there, can re-fabricate them. Each card earns 15 cents toward a college fund. A basket awaits your old cards in the tower narthex.
ACOLYTE/CRUCIFER APPRECIATION EVENT
All those who presently serve our church as acolyte and crucifer are invited to an ice cream party at Friendly’s on Sunday, January 29, at 3:330 PM. Pastor will drive the van and he will treat! Sign-up on the sheet in the tower narthex if you want to go along!
Note: If more than 12 kids go along, we shall need extra drivers. Parents are welcome to join us.
2006 SYNOD ASSEMBLY DELEGATES NEEDED
the Synod Assembly will take place on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, at Gettysburg College. Each congregation in our Synod must send their Pastor (s) and a male and female lay person to represent them at the conclave. All confirmed, communing, and contributing members of the congregation may serve. If interested in being our male or female representative, please talk to Pastor before February 6. Council will make the choice on that day. This is a good way to see what the church does beyond the congregational level. Anyone from 15 to 95 can go.
TRIP TO WINDSOR/WESTMINSTER
On Monday, January 30, at 10:00 am, our church van will load up with passengers, health kits, quilts, and other collected materials, and drive to the Lutheran World Relief Warehouse in New Windsor, MD. After dropping the stuff off, we shall again visit the Church of the Brethren’s nearby Gift Shop, and then head to Westminster for lunch at going along so fare are: Betty, Anna, Esther B., Ginny, Gladys, Pauline and Pastor. There is room for one or two more members of the church so, if interested, speak up. We must know by next Sunday. We should return to Maytown by 5pm. (Bring $10 - $20 for lunch.)
FLOWERS/BULLETIN SPONSORS
We almost had to use last week’s flowers for the Altar. No one had signed up so we put last week’s flowers in the fridge to keep them somewhat fresh. Thanks to an unnamed kind soul, we did not have to use the “used” flowers. If you would like to see fresh flowers each week, help us out and sign up for a Sunday or two. (Bulletin sponsors are also badly needed to save our current budget and expenses. They cost $20 each week.) See JoNan or Pastor if you have a question.
NEWSLETTER DEADLINE
The Lenten edition of the “Wings of the Eagle” will fly into your mailboxes on February 19th. The deadline for the submission of articles will be February 5th. That gives you two weeks to write. LENTEN SOUP N’ SANDWICH SUPPER HOSTS NEEDED!
